My Education

During my undergraduate experience of obtaining my Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at Henderson State University, I started employment at my local public library. Garland County Library, in my personal opinion, has the best environment I have been employed in. I am thrilled about the opportunity to make a career in libraries, and I hope to learn new skills in this Master’s program to utilize in my professional career. I strive to be well-rounded, and I am eager to grow into being an effective library director as my career progresses. Originally written May 1, 2023.

Where Things Stand

I am currently enrolled in UNT’s ALA-accredited Master of Science in Library Science (general track), set to graduate in December 2026. I completed UNT’s Graduate Academic Certification in Advanced Management of Libraries and Information Agencies in May 2024.

My ultimate goal is to be well-qualified for a secure, major Library Director or System Director position, and to be exceptional at running an organization. I became Outreach Coordinator for Garland County Library in the fall of 2020, and I currently manage the day-to-day operations of Donna, the GCL Bookmobile. I plan to parlay that experience, the completed management certification, and the MS-LS into a support role at my library, and continue managing services and fulfilling tasks that will prepare me to manage a library from the top.
